I believe I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world; the Snoqualmie Valley. I get to see amazing things everyday. It's time to celebrate that. (You can view pictures in larger format by clicking on them)

Spring Flood at Twin Falls

Sometimes life is surprisng and wonderful. I pulled into the Twin Falls parking lot hoping for no crowds. There were people standing by the cars and I was pondering leaving for a more secluded place when I realized I knew them! In fact, one of them is a friend I've been missing since she's been busy exploring the joys of motherhood. So Coal and I got out of the car and wandered over. It was fairly late Sunday afternoon and I figured they were just finishing up. Nope, they were just beginning and asked me to join them. Coal had been especially arthritic that morning and I did not expect him to keep up. That was my second pleasant surpise, my old mutt did just fine. We ambled along enjoying the beauty and the company. There was lovely Spring growth all around including trillium (I just love trillium).

Things just got better though, when we reached the Falls. I knew the Snoqualmie River had been at flood stage and had only crested earlier that day but I did not exepct just how stupendous the Falls would be. We walked down to the lower platform (except for Coal who didn't want to deal with the stairs) and it was incredible. The mist was creating a magical setting and the Falls were huge. It was hard to get any pictures because of the mist.

As I drove away the sun was creating some amazing lighting. I stopped to take a few pictures and then stopped again a few moments later to watch the herd of elk. It's not at all what I planned or expected but it was a mighty fine outing.
