Simple Gifts

I believe I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world; the Snoqualmie Valley. I get to see amazing things everyday. It's time to celebrate that. (You can view pictures in larger format by clicking on them)

Franklin Falls in Autumn

I haven't got much to say. I'm glad it's Autumn. The trails are quieter and the colors are stupendous. Fungus seem otherworldly and make me curious. Water is magical at any season. Coal and I sat alone at the Falls for quiet some time.

Enjoy the photos (don't forget you can click on them to see them big)...

I wish I could have gotten a better photo.
(I was virtually laying down)
The water drops on this were great

I have no idea what kind of fungus this is.
I think it's absolutely beautiful.
Someone tell me what it is!

Yosemite

When I was visiting my friends we went to Yosemite. I wish I could capture the scale of the place in words or photos. It's simply amazing. I've never found it intimidating to feel small in nature. I suppose it's a sort of faith for me. Being tiny means that there is much more to life then what I can see and control. Perhaps that should terrify me, but it's also filled me with a belief of the power of life. The fact that no matter what we humans do or don't do there are things stronger then us.

We went to see the waterfalls. Yosemite Falls (the largest waterfall in North America) was basically dry but it still amazed me. We hiked up to Vernal Falls, because of injuries we couldn't get any further but that was a gift. We spent along time just sitting beside the river. I think sitting still and absorbing the surrounding is one of the greatest experiences you can have in nature. We saw huge ravens, fish, baby squirrels and watched the magic of water.

Transitions

It's been a while since I updated. I've been to California and back. I moved from the lush forest to arid land in a matter of few hours. The change is so dramatic. I've also watch the season begun to change. I love Autumn. So much change happening so quickly, it still seems like magic to me. Just a single leaf goes through an amazing transformation.

Mushrooms

I really need to learn my mushrooms. I just don't know much about them. I tossed some wood in my carport. One day as I got out of my car I realized there was the most amazing fungus growing. I have no idea what they were. They've now disolved into a pile of black goo, but while they were there I found them enchanting.

They grew up under the wood.
Did the spores come in with the wood?

The mushrooms seemed to be forcing themselves between pieces of wood
